Classification

Category I: Navigable and floatable waters (= Public Waters): Fishing allowed with a National License
a) The artificial lake of Esch-sur-Sūre
b) The River Sūre from the mouth of the Alzette (Ettelbruck) to the mouth of the Our (Wallendorf)
Category II: Neither navigable, nor floatable waters (= Private Waters):
Fishing only allowed with special permission of the Fishery holder and a National License

Anybody over the age of 14 years wishing to fish in inland waters, must be the holder of a valid Fishing License.
Minors under 14 years of age may fish without license.


Fishing Licenses

Available from the District Commissioners offices (=Commissariat de District) in Luxembourg-City, Diekirch and Grevenmacher and also from the secretariats of some Borough Administrations (=Secrétariat de la Commune), namely: Clervaux, Differdange, Dudelange, Esch/Alzette, Esch/Sūre, Lake of the Upper Sūre, Vianden.

Categories and Tariffs

a) Ordinary License: Allows Fishing in Category II waters:
Cost 12 €/year or 2 €/month.
Condition: permission from the Fishery Assignees.
b) Special License A: Same rights as sub a) plus Fishing in Category I waters:
Cost: 18 €/year or 3 €/month.
c) Special License B: Same rights as sub a) and b) plus Fishing from a craft in Category I waters:
Cost: 23 €/year or 4 €/month.
